Anniversary Gifts
Though there are many variations on the list, here is the one that is most accepted. Along with mentioning the stone or the gem, we'll also mention about what you can do with that stone, so that you'll find it easy to gift.
1st Year - Pearls - For the first anniversary, the choice according to the list would be fresh water pearls - usually in the form of a strand. Or you could choose a pendant studded with beautiful flawless fresh water pearls. 2nd Year - Garnet - The most usual format for these stones would be as birth rings. But then, gifting a ring would not make a lot of sense. Instead, choose a necklace studded with garnets all around, or even better - choose a bracelet that has beautifully cut garnets studded. 3rd Year - Crystal - Thanks to Swarovski, crystals have come into mainstream jewelry. You can now get fabulous designer wear featuring crystals. The usual pendants featuring crystals have come on their own, and now come in fabulous cuts and shapes. Crystals are also used as side stones for bracelets, and that is a lovely option too. 4th Year - Amethyst / Topaz - Several years have more than one option, and the 4th year is one of them. The most common piece of jewelry featuring amethyst would be rings, and the same holds true for topaz too. 5th Year - Sapphire - The 5th anniversary is the first milestone in several marriages, and sapphire is the stone of choice. You have a lot of options with this stone, and we'll let you find one you like on your own. 6th Year - Garnet / Amethyst - If you have used Topaz in the 4th year, choose Amethyst now. Or try something in combination. 7th Year - Onyx - This is one of the rare stones, and getting a good onyx is not easy. Since onyx is another form of quartz, pick out a good grade of quartz if you can't find a good onyx. 8th Year - Tourmaline - This is another stone that is not too common, but the 8th year also has a special significance for Bronze. So, try something quirky combining these two. 9th Year - Lapis Lazuli - One of the oldest stones known to man (Afghanistan has been mining this stone for over 6500 years!), Lapis Lazuli is a superb choice for combination jewelry, and can be used in both rings and strings around the neck. 10th Year - Diamonds - Here is the first anniversary that officially features diamond jewelry. |
